Frequently Asked
Questions

How do ticket types and BLOKFEST scoring categories work?

Ticket types and BLOKFEST scoring categories are separate. Under-16s buy an Under-16 ticket; their category is set by date of birth at the start of the season.

Climbers 16+ enter the Senior Round, with senior categories self-selected in the scoring system.

Do I need to climb in every round?

No. Every BLOKFEST round is a standalone event, so you can enter one round or as many as you like.

We also run a season league using your best three scores, with the overall winners announced at the final round.

Can I enter on the day?

Yes, if tickets are still available. Some rounds, especially at smaller venues, can sell out, so booking in advance is strongly recommended.

Are spectators welcome?

Yes, especially for the free-to-watch finals.

Under-16s must be actively supervised by one assigned adult, whose name must be on the ticket booking. Extra non-climbing spectators are discouraged during junior sessions due to venue capacity.

How does a BLOKFEST event work?

Each climber gets 25 specially crafted boulder problems for their category, covering a huge range of difficulty. Climb as many as you can during your session, log your scores, and enjoy the atmosphere.

How does scoring work?

Scoring is fully electronic, with live results throughout the event. We send instructions in advance and have a help desk on the day.

Paper scorecards are available if you want to track scores before entering them electronically.

What do I need to bring?

Bring your usual bouldering kit, a water bottle, a pen, an electronic device for scoring, a bag full of psych, plenty of energy and some good vibes.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?

If you can no longer attend, contact us before the event and we’ll let you know whether a ticket transfer is possible.

Is BLOKFEST only for serious competition climbers?

Absolutely not. BLOKFEST is a climbing festival first and foremost: great problems, big tunes, brilliant venues and a friendly atmosphere.

Whether you’re chasing a podium, trying your first event or climbing with mates, BLOKFEST is for you.

Do I have to use the digital scorecard?

While you do not have to use the digital scorecard, it is the only way to submit a score to us. You can ask for a paper score card on the day but this is purely to allow you to track your own score and will not be counted towards the ranking on the day or the overall series.

Do you have a map for the climbs?

No, because we set all climbs in a just in time manner to reduce the impact on participating climbing gyms we are unable to produce a map. But if you cannot find a climb please go back to registration desk and we can assist you with finding the climbs you are looking for.

What is the photography and filming policy?

At Blokfest we are honoured to have so many talented photographers and filmmakers attend each event. However, in the last couple of years, we have started to get a little overwhelmed with people especially during the finals which has led to a couple of issues. Therefore we appreciate your understanding with the following.

Filming. As of November 2017 we are stipulating that EpicTV have filming exclusivity for each of the five events. Any filming by other parties during the event or during the preparations needs to be pre-agreed with Blokfest at all times. Facebook Live or similar live streaming is strictly forbidden during the finals to protect the exclusivity and content rights of EpicTV.

Photography. All stills photography during any part of the event needs to be pre-agreed within 5 days of the event start date. A maximum of two photographers will be allowed on the field of play (mats and cordoned off zone during the finals) and these two photographers will be arranged in advance.

Media consent. By submitting a registration form participants consent to images of them being used for promotion of Blokfest and the host climbing centre. As a participant official images on social media or other channels can be shared for “personal use”, non-profit or non-business related activities only. If you wish to use an image for business or promotional purposes (i.e. sponsors, events, climbing centres, coaching), or other advertising purposes you must gain consent from the photographer & Blokfest directly.

Five rounds. Five cities. One massive season.

Check the 2026/27 dates and venues, and save the ones you’re climbing.
